What's the Smell

Tonight the machinations of government were laid bare. Here is an article from Canadian Business that outlines what is going on. Beverly Perdue and her Department of Commerce has quietly worked on approving the placement of a sulfur melting facility in Carteret County.

No coincidence, as Carteret voted against Perdue in her bid for the governor’s mansion. And to the North Dare County, run by Democrat Marc Basnight, was happy to see the stinky sulfur smokestacks located down south in opposition territory rather that in his home of Dare.

So if you love the Crystal Coast, and want to apply political pressure to stop this fiasco, the
sign up here.

Why Beaufort?

Living in Beaufort provides residents opportunities not necessarily afforded others. Case in point. Monday morning the weather was excellent, with fair seas and light winds. So faced with a day off, we hopped on the boat and headed the 60 plus miles up to Ocracoke for a little fresh seafood diner.

Our friends never having never been to the island, wanted to catch a little sight seeing, so off we went to the light house. It’s fun, and renting a golf cart helps out in the heat.

On the way back to the hotel, we caught a little local color, checking in with Fatboy’s Seafood Truck!

Experimenting with the Canon 17mm Tilt shift lens. Lots to learn, as you can see from this picture of the flags on the Beaufort waterfront.

Tonight is the Beaufort Historic Association’s Summer Fundraising Party.
This is but one of the events scheduled for this summer.

Also Linda Greenlaw is
coming to speak and sign her book July 11th. Don’t miss the book signing, although the lecture is sold out.
